Matt received bachelor degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Indiana University in 1996, and his juris doctorate (magna cum laude) and Master of Laws in Taxation from Capital University Law School in 1999 and 2004, respectively. Matt focuses his practice in estate planning, estate/probate and trust administration, real estate and business matters with an expertise in tax issues relating to those practice areas.

Matt is a member of the Fairfield County and Ohio State Bar Associations. He is a former president and director of the Fairfield County Red Cross, former president of the Downtown Lancaster Special Improvement District. He has also served as director and Secretary of the Fairfield County Foundation as well as being the affiliate board member of the Lancaster Board of Realtors, where he was the affiliate of the year in 2013. Matt resides in Lancaster with his wife, Kim, and sons, Brandon and Eric, and is an active member in the First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster.
